Final History Fair Project Due!

The final project due date for History Fair will be on March 24th, but students may turn it in as late as Monday March 28th if they want or need the weekend to wrap up their projects. However, NO projects will be accepted after March 28th, and their final project grade will be a 0%, which will most likely result in a poor quarter grade.

Many students still do not have enough information to completely explain their topic and thesis statement. They have been given repeated opportunities to complete their notes, but only some students have done so. Without notes and information, it will be difficult to impossible to complete a project. We will be wrapping up lessons about final preparation for their projects, and I will be available this after school this week Thursday and Friday as well as Monday through Friday next week to assist students in completing their projects. If students need to stay after school, they need to make sure they have parental permission beforehand.

If students want History Fair boards delivered to school for them, please send $6.50 to school (cash, no checks or money orders) no later than Wednesday, and I will purchase a board for them at my local Staples. Otherwise, students must secure their own boards. Many students will find that all their information and visuals will not fit on one board, and will need to purchase two and stick them together. However, be sure that you do not go beyond the 60 inch height limit that is in the History Fair Manual. I am attaching another copy of the manual to this e-mail.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Mr. S

Field Trip Update

I only have 5 students so far who have brought back permission slips and/or money for the trip, and I only have two parent volunteers thus far. Please be sure to have your students bring in their permission slips and money, or the trip may have to be cancelled next week. This is going to put much more of the burden of completeting their History Fair assignments on them.
If any parents are interested in attending the field trip to help their child and a few others, please let me know!
Thanks,
Mr. S

Field Trip 1/25-Harold Washington Library

We will be going on an all day field trip to the Harold Washington Library on Tuesday, January 25th. This trip is designed to help students find more and more specific research materials so it will be easier to create an excellent History Fair project!

1. We need parent chaperones! The more chaperones we have, the smaller the groups will be! I need parents to volunteer that will help their own child as well as 2-3 others find research materials.

2. Students who are not caught up with their History Fair assignments will NOT be able to come on this trip. Any students who have less than a "C" on their first set of note cards will NOT be able to come-and that includes MOST of the class.
