3/14-introduction and conclusion for History Fair projects due Tuesday

The final project due date for History Fair will be on March 24th, but students may turn it in as late as Monday March 28th if they want or need the weekend to wrap up their projects. However, NO projects will be accepted after March 28th, and their final project grade will be a 0%, which will most likely result in a poor quarter grade.

Many students still do not have enough information to completely explain their topic and thesis statement. They have been given repeated opportunities to complete their notes, but only some students have done so. Without notes and information, it will be difficult to impossible to complete a project. We will be wrapping up lessons about final preparation for their projects, and I will be available this after school this week Thursday and Friday as well as Monday through Friday next week to assist students in completing their projects. If students need to stay after school, they need to make sure they have parental permission beforehand.

If students want History Fair boards delivered to school for them, please send $6.50 to school (cash, no checks or money orders) no later than Wednesday, and I will purchase a board for them at my local Staples. Otherwise, students must secure their own boards. Many students will find that all their information and visuals will not fit on one board, and will need to purchase two and stick them together. However, be sure that you do not go beyond the 60 inch height limit that is in the History Fair Manual. I am attaching another copy of the manual to this e-mail.

3/11:  Visual Assignments-Due MONDAY, March 14th.

Every aspect of your topic and thesis should have some type of visual to go along with it. Your board is an exhibit, where the words and visuals act as a team, not a research paper stapled to a piece of cardboard.

Your job is to do the following:

1. Find 10 or more visuals for your project board. Each visual must be different than the others. No duplicates or highly similar visuals will be accepted.

2. For each visual, clip/staple a note to it that explains in 3 sentences or less what this picture represents or shows.

3. ALL visuals must relate to important parts/details/pieces of your thesis, topic, or project. Think of things that will help get your point across!

Some types of visuals you may want to consider:

α Photographs & Drawings (primary or secondary source)

α Pictures/diagrams (primary or secondary source)

α Graphs and charts

α Maps of the areas in which your event took place

α Time lines

α Famous Quotations

α Old newspaper headlines or articles

α Political Cartoons

From 192 (7th grade),

If I was a Greek god, I would be Posiedon. I would be Posiedon because he is the god of the sea. I would not be Zeus because he has too many women with him. Even though he saved his brothers and sisters from Cronos, I would not choose him any way. I wouldn't be Hades because he is the ruler of the underworld. I just would not like to be him.

The greek god that bests fits my personality is Poseidon also. This is because even though they do not talk about him a lot he seems like a nice person (in my point of view). The other gods have two sides to them. One side is nice, but the other one is anger. These are very two different personalities. Once again, the best Greek god that fits my personality is Poesidon.
